WORD WAR III

Fear!  Fire!  Foes!  Awake!

Word War III is here at last, readers!  Sharpen your swords, and prepare your characters for a wild ride, folks--Word War III is about to rock the world.  Or, at least, the world of your novel.

So prepare the ink!  Sharpen the quills!  Change your flaming pen's batteries!  Hone your writerly skills...it's coming.

So here's the deal, readers--here's the fire, the flames, the forks.  :|

Write from 5:00 PM CST to 10:00 PM CST.  This the duration of the word war--yes, it is long. :)  After you have finished writing, post your word count before you started and your word count after you started (in one comment) and then how many words you wrote in the allotted time.  The person who writes the most words in that time WINS the Word War!  :D  And gets this interesting banner thing to post on a blog sidebar. ;)

Now, you must post your word count within one day of the Word War--or else the word count will be void. I may not announce the winner right away, as American Thanksgiving is near. :)

So are you ready?  Is your pen full of ink?  Your novel honed?  Your characters ready to do-or-die?

Then go, and prepare, for the Word War is coming.

  15. Jake - Hey, stop stealing my ideas! Hehe. I'm doing something similiar right now. . .

    ReplyDelete
  16. Are you torturing him/her with demons? ;) Mwahaha! XD

  19. Jake - Uhhh, no. It's a tad more physical than that. Who knew that a single person's sadistic touch could do more damage than anyone could ever fathom, causing pain far beyond the scope of the imagination.

*smacks character* Shut up, Daymond! You're not supposed to be enjoying this! *pauses* Too late. You are.

*plugs MC's ears* No, Chance, you didn't hear that, everything's fine, just keep on chatting w/ Gilbert...

  21. I'm having some major brain issues here. I've never felt so dead and low writing. LOL.
    Certainly not my shining moments.

  23. :-P

I've pretty much been working on it this whole time besides two interruptions from friends who wanted to chat.

I have like 500 new words. :-P Not okay. Normally I can write about 2,000 in an hour and fifteen minutes, and they aren't wretched are anything.

Maybe I should just get to the part where *I* can start killing and torturing characters and things will liven up. Things just aren't working for me at the moment.

  24. I jumped ahead to and exciting part too

    ReplyDelete
  25. The problem is...I want all of my book to be exciting... Ugh..I feel quite dull.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I understand.

Off topic: My hands are freezing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Same here! My desk is the coldest place in the house.

Don't you live in the NW too?

Snow and cold! Not okay. I helped myself feel better by making my characters all stuck out in the freezing cold with snow and everything. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah, I think we live in the same area. Portland??

I know haha-- it's the middle of AUgust in my story but I'm thinking I should make it snow just for the heck of it.

Maybe I should close my window.....

Jake turn off that dratted word verification, argh! Now my Write or Die is making creepy honking noises at me! Gotta go!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Alas, I must end after 3 hours at... *drumroll*
    5582 words!
Not amazing, actually, not great, but for having dinner and a lot of distractions, it could've been worse...
I am now 40834 words into Nano! Only 10K left.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Alas, I too write in the coldest room in the house. Unfortunately, I can't make it snow on my characters because they're inside right now. Although that would make for an interesting mental picture. . .

    ReplyDelete
  31. Okay...so this was like my all time worst day, but I'm glad you had this because I've been dealing with writer's block for a couple days now. :-P
This really helped me get over it and I know tomorrow I can start anew. :-)

I had 34,335 words in this current story and I wrote only 2,139 (which is really lame I know...but I'm okay with it. Next time I'll be up and running...watch out!:-).
    So now, I have 36,474.

I think this is an awesome idea as NaNoWrMo comes to a close. Maybe you should do another one after Thanksgiving?? :-)

Hope everyone got a good chunk of writing done, or just got over that hump.
After all that's what it's all about. :-)

    Thanks!
    Miss Pickwickian

  32. Or...I guess I could host one of sorts...

Good luck with your last hour! I always get confused with this timezone stuff. I had another hour, but I have to make dinner anyways.
    Good luck. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Gotta go eat dinner now. 4620 words.
I'm now at 31868 total, which is a big deal for me. I just might be able to bust out another 7k to be on schedule later.

Thanks for the word war, Jake.

I agree with Miss Pickwickian. Let's do another one! I can host one, too.... ;)

    Bye wonderful people.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wow, good job everyone. I only ended up getting 732 words. THAT'S lame. But there's always next time! (I said that last WW, didn't I?)

    ReplyDelete
  35. LOL, so ye did Eldra.

Interesting comments everyone! This is probably my most popular non-contest related post ever. ;) Thanks readers!

I managed to write 4,321 after about an hour of procrastination and a party for a book trailer release (see my other blog). Heh. TAK, ye really wrote! And The Director as well...Great job, all! :D I managed to end my character's demon-torture with a Script ...er, Bible, verse. :)

And to top the night off, I watched part of LOTR. ;) The Two Towers...epic movies. :D And it isn't really that cold here... :P I was writing all this time on my laptop. >_> Nice and toasty on the couch...not to mention more comfortable. ;)

With that, I'm signing out! See you all tomorrow for WW results, hopefully. And by the way--you guys caught me up on NaNoWriMo. You're awesome! :D

    ReplyDelete
  36. Great way to end the torture dude :D

ACK! Ye watched TTT and you DIDN'T INVITE ME OVER?!??!?!?!??!!

    The nerve!
    XD

    Anyway...
Thanks for the WW3 Jake. I think the rest of us are going to go freeze to death now lol.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Aye. Ye wanna fight about it? ;)

No prob TD. :) Twas out of generosity...ah, who am I kidding? I did it so I could bump my word count. XD LOL. And I hope you don't freeze to death--I'm going to have a Word War IV, eventually! :O

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hopefully I'll survive.... lol XD

Oh, you wanna fight, huh? XD

    *stabs a Uruk*

  39. Would anyone be interested in entering a word war of sorts at my blog on say...Saturday? What's a good time for you all? I'm home all day (and on the west coast).

    ReplyDelete
